Interested In Volunteering?
One of the better known benefits of volunteering is the impact it can have on the community. Volunteers are often the glue that holds a community together. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community and make it a better place. Even helping out with the smallest of tasks can make a real difference to the lives of people and organizations in need. Plus, volunteering at RIBFEST is a two-way street. Not only can it can benefit you and your family as much as the causes Rotary supports, but dedicating your time as a volunteer can help you make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.
In an effort to thank our volunteers, they will receive some great perks and free swag like a volunteer shirt and numerous complimentary offerings from several local businesses and RIBFEST sponsors!

WHO?
Yes, you! We are looking for fun-loving volunteers for our daytime, afternoon and evening shifts to help make the Port Moody RIBFEST an even bigger success than last year! Although not required, we are also looking for some individuals that have their 'Serving It Right' and 'Food Safe' certifications to work in our beverage garden. |
WHAT?
Volunteer roles include:
When you register, please mark which positions you are interested in, and we will try to match your interests with your skills. |
WHERE?
The event itself takes place at Rocky Point Park. All volunteers will be required to complete one brief training session in the weeks leading up to the event. |
WHEN?
This fun community event will take place over 3 days this summer from July 19 to July 21, 2019. Most volunteer shifts are three hours in duration, and we would greatly appreciate it if our volunteers are able to sign up for multiple shifts. |
GROUP VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering with a group is a great way to build spirit and promote your organization. As RIBFEST 2019 will be an even larger event than last year, we would love to have some blocks of volunteers from different community groups to cover off specific areas of our event. Gather together your sports team, community organization, neighbourhood association, or even just a group of friends and register to volunteer together!

WHAT ELSE?
All volunteers will receive training at an orientation session, a Volunteer T-Shirt and an opportunity to be part of a widely successful event. If you are a student, your volunteer time at RIBFEST could count towards your volunteer hours for graduation - we would be happy to provide a letter acknowledging the donation of your time.
*PLEASE NOTE: Police Criminal Record Checks (CRC's) are required for some volunteer positions.
If you will be working with children in either the Family Fun Zone or the Family Bar you must apply for the " Working with Vulnerable People Sector" check. If you will be handling any cash on site (ticket sales, pop sales, etc.) you must apply for the regular check or "Non Vulnerable People Sector" check.
We urge you to apply early, especially for the "Working with Vulnerable People" check, as the checks can take some time and the police department has limited ability to process a large volume of requests in a short time frame. There is no cost to you, but you must bring in your ID and a copy of the letter to the Port Moody Police Department on St John's Street in Port Moody. You can download the letters from this webpage at either of the two links below.
All letters should be returned to us before your first shift ( you can bring with you to the Volunteer Desk at the event at the time that you sign in with us for your first shift). All letters will be kept confidential.
** Volunteers under the age of 18 are welcomed, although they will require the permission of their parents / guardians.
